NARRATIVE MEDICINE AND NURSING EDUCATION: AN EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP TO DEVELOP EMPATHY, COMMUNICATION, AND REFLECTIVENESS
Abstract
This mixed-method study explored the impact of a Narrative Medicine workshop on first-year nursing students. With 150 participants divided into experimental and control groups, results showed marked gains in empathy (+18%) and communication (+22%) only in the experimental group. Qualitative data revealed enhanced self-awareness, empathic listening, and ethical reflection. Findings support integrating Narrative Medicine into nursing curricula to foster person-centred, resilient care.
