OPPORTUNITIES AND RISKS OF AI IN LESSON PLANNING: INSIGHTS FROM PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS

Laura Sara Agrati, Arianna Beri

Abstract

This paper, which forms part of an international project on the use of AI in teacher training on teaching designing, presents the exploratory phase of a critical phenomenological study. The theoretical framework is Intelligent-TPACK (Celik, 2023), which integrates ethical dimensions into the use of AI. The open-ended responses of 237 trainee teachers and the lesson plans they produced are analysed using a qualitative and triangulated approach. The results show a positive assessment of AI as a support for lesson planning, but also highlight risks (dependence, errors, depersonalisation) and the need for critical use.
