THE CONSTITUTIONAL RECOGNITION OF SPORT AND THE REDEFINITION OF KINESIOLOGY AS AN EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSION: A MIXED-METHODS STUDY EXAMINING PUBLIC POLICY, SCHOOLS AND ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP
Abstract
This study explores the educational and professional implications of the constitutional recognition of sport in Italy and recent kinesiology reforms. Using a mixed-methods quasi-experimental design with 480 participants from the University of Naples, the research examined the effects of an eight-week embodied educational intervention. Results showed improvements in perceptions of the educational and social value of sport, professional identity and psychological well-being. Qualitative findings highlighted a more interdisciplinary vision of kinesiology linked to education, health and social wellbeing. The study suggests that embodied university programmes can foster transformative learning and strengthen professional identity in Sports Science.
