Autostima e tecnologia: l’accelerazione in relazione al uso di Internet

Luigi Piceci

Abstract

We analyzes what is reported in the literature respect to the relationship between self-esteem and addiction, starting from the observation that the acceleration given by technology increasingly highlights how much a strong connection is being created with psychological, sociological and pedagogical events that are updated and adapt to the change taking place. The expansion of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has led to numerous positive elements, including new means of communication, work, learning and entertainment. It has also show some problems associated with inappropriate or excessive use, like absenteeism at work and school, academic failure, deterioration of family or friendship relations and even health problems, particularly among adolescents (Muñoz-Miralles et al. 2016). A factor that seems to be recurrent in cases of addiction is that related to self-esteem. Self-esteem is considered an important factor also in terms of resilience and physical well-being (Mariani, Marcolongo, Melchiori, Peluso 2019)
